What does Speciality Coffee mean?
Speciality coffee means that the coffee meets stringent quality standards, and will score at least 80 points/100 when taste-tested by an expert Q-Grader who is working to standards set by the Speciality Coffee Association.
amamus is proud to be a member of the Speciality Coffee Association whose aim is to raise standards of coffee worldwide through a collaborative and progressive, sustainable and fair approach.
Is your coffee Fairtrade or Organic?
Many of our coffees do have trade accreditations including Fairtrade, Rainforest Alliance or Organic (at source). We don't promote these, preferring to focus on only Specialty grade coffee, which is your cast iron assurance of quality and taste. Plus we are working towards fully transparent buying arrangements with farmers and mills so we know the price we pay is creates sustainable livelihoods for farmers.
Are your coffees 100% arabica beans?
Absolutely! Robusta beans cannot be classified as speciality coffee, so you can be confident that whenever you buy Speciality coffee, you are only ever buying 100% arabica beans.
Who is amamus?
amamus is a B Corp certified specialty coffee company that focuses on the B2B supply of exceptional quality coffee and machines into workplaces. So This is Coffee is a trading name of amamus, created to supply coffee direct to homes.
How should I store my coffee?
We would recommend you store your coffee in an air tight container. Despite reports of keeping your coffee in the fridge to retain the freshness, we would not advise this, as it can cause condensation which leaches the flavour and aroma from the beans.
What is the best before date on your coffee? How long will it stay fresh?
We recommend consuming your beans within 4 weeks of delivery. However you will still be able to enjoy them up to 3 months. If you have requested ground beans, we would recommend you consume them within 4 weeks to really enjoy the flavour and aroma of the coffee.
Which grind should I use for my brew method?
We recommend the following:
- Course grind is essential for a cafetière
- Medium grind is perfect for a pour-over or filter brew.
- Fine grind is great for Espresso or Aeropress.

Are your coffee bags recyclable?
Sustainability is a really big deal for us, so we have hunted high and low for suitable bags to send our coffee out in, and we think we have cracked it. Remove the tin tie and you have a bag that is 100% compostable. So you can pop it on your garden compost with your coffee grinds.
I do not like the coffee I have received? What should I do?
We take every step to ensure the coffee we send out is perfect, however if you are not happy with the product you have received please email us at email@example.com and we will do everything we can to resolve the issue.
How do I cancel or pause my subscription?
It's really easy, just email firstname.lastname@example.org and pop 'cancel' or 'pause my subscription' in the subject heading. We can then sort this out for you.
I've ordered the wrong subscription plan, how do I adjust it?
We will be more than happy to help, simply drop us an email at email@example.com and we will make the necessary changes for you.
Can I buy a subscription as a gift?
Of course, and what a great gift it is too. Just pop the recipient's address in the delivery address and we can do the rest. If you would like to add a personalised message, just email us at firstname.lastname@example.org with the message you would like to include.
Can I change the coffee I receive on my subscription plan?
If you have chosen the house blend then the coffee is the same each month, if you have chosen the speciality coffee then it changes every 3 months. However, we understand that not every coffee will be to everyone's taste so if you find one you love and what to stick with it, just drop us a line at email@example.com and we will sort it out for you.
I have not received a confirmation email, what should I do?
This could be a glitch, so please let us know as soon as possible so that we can rectify the problem for you. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
